OVERVIEW

How can you mobilize young people and equip them to become leaders in nonviolence awareness, economic development, and fair and open elections?

All for Social Justice in Lubumbashi, DR Congo trains young people in their communities to become leaders, advocates, and role models to work towards a more equitable future for all. Through trainings, programs, and educational events, they are able to instill values like nonviolent conflict resolution and democracy and make a difference in their communities, cities, and country.

WHAT IS ALL FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE?

All for Social Justice teaches young people how to create nonviolence campaigns to raise their voices against any issue related to injustice, identify the root causes of conflict within their communities and schools, and analyze and resolve conflicts.

HOW ALL FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE PROMOTED NONVIOLENCE AND FAIR ELECTIONS

All for Social Justice’s Volontaires Amani program is a training and engagement program that aims at equipping young people aged 17 to 40 with skills in non-violent conflict resolution and then actively engage with them in the promotion of a culture of positive peace and non-violence in their communities. This program targets different groups of young people from political parties, community organizations, churches, and more.

From June 2016 to date, nearly 150 young people have become trainers and nearly 1000 secondary school students and street children (commonly known as Chegue) in the city of Lubumbashi have been impacted by the various nonviolent awareness campaigns organized by the program’s young trainers.

Since 2017, All for Social Justice has also run an initiative called The Café de la Justice Sociale, focusing on women in business and leadership. This initiative aims at promoting and developing women and young women leaders in different areas such as civic engagement, servant leadership, health, entrepreneurship, women's rights, and more. The Cafe meets bimonthly to explore specific themes, and each session is facilitated by an expert in the field.

This initiative has reached more than 300 women and young women in Lubumbashi.

One of their sessions, “Women and Elections,” gathered more than 100 businesswomen to experiment with voting machines leading up to the December 2018 elections.
